What a difference from my previous stereo. 2. USB works great. I've tested with an 8GB drive but it probably can handle much higher capacities. 3. Sleekness looks really good without becoming a gaudy light show. 4. Plays songs reliably from USB (other stereos randomly cut songs way short) 5. Surprise feature: Supports limited RDS. While not a feature called out, you can view text from a radio station for song title and station information. However, there are no advanced RDS features enabled (ex: can't scan for radio stations by genre). Cons (all minor): 1. Doesn't ship with a faceplate case (come on Pioneer, please spring for the 60 cents of plastic). 2. No microphone mute option during a Bluetooth phone call. 3. Microphone sound quality is good but not great. If you are extra finicky you can use a different mic. I'm sticking with the factory mic. 4. Display does not alternate through Artist, Album, Song Title, etc. You have to explicitely change these yourself. 5. The manual is written so-so. There are a few things that are not explains well (ex: what is "private mode") and sometimes it says you can "press the M.C." and that "pushing the M.C." also does the same thing. Overall, the manual is mostly ok. 6. When you are in Repeat:Track mode and want to jump to another track you want to repeat on, the unit changes to Repeat:Folder instead of staying in Repeat:Track mode. Seems odd to me. 7. Does not ship with a remote control (optional upgrade), but I've never used the remotes from my past stereos anyways. 12 of 13 people found the following review helpful. Good product some minor preference issues By Anthony Gadd Sound is awesome, Ipod control works great as well as the bluetooth. It synced to my iPhone perfectly. The only issue I really had with is that the main knob is too shallow so when you want to turn up or down the volume its like your pinching it and not grabbing it. Overall I am happy with it and would buy it again, the calls are clear and the sound is awesome! 8 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Very nice with a few flaws... By Turbo Really like my Pioneer stereo yet there are a few issues that I really don't like. * Red? Looks nice in the dark but for me difficult to see during the day. The phone icon that tells you that your phone is connected via bluetooth is really bad, unless it is dark. * Adjusting volume control is tricky... the center control knob is low profile so it does not feel effortless to adjust volume or settings. * Not sure if it has something to do with the iOS 4 update but now my phone is hit and miss if it will charge by the radio. No issues on the audio coming across the usb cable. Don't see where you can use bluetooth to stream audio, yet works fine with the phone. * Wish they would have provided an USB port in the back... would love to run the cable from the back of the unit for iPod controls and use the front for usb keys or something like that. * I like to listen to talk radio on the AM dial yet I have to switch through 3 banks of FM to get to AM. Why can't I disable the extra banks of FM that I'm not ever going to use? * Sounds great yet it has tons or setting which take a while to tweak... hate the graphic equalizer... nothing but numbers... I'm a visual person... like to see all of the bands at once for that visual picture. All you will get is the band frequency and +/- numbers. Overall I'm happy with the product but don't think I would choose this model due to my list above... Don't get me wrong, it still a good unit... just needs a few changes for me. By Rowe Rowe I paid less than eighty dollars for this brand new unit at a local store and am very impressed with what I got. I bought it to replace my radio in my RV. It has everything I need which basically is just the simple audio-input jack. Between that and the cigarette charger for power, I connect my iPhone with Pandora and I'm all set for a road trip. The radio is pretty decent as far as the quality goes. It sounds great! An improvement over OEM stereos for sure! The buttons are small but you get used to them. I think they could have been slightly larger but this was a design decision. I disagree with the previous person stating that the knob it too shallow. That person must have abnormally large fingers because I thought the knob is quite nice. The radio is decent. It got all of my stations with no hassle. Memorizing stations is dead simple: Hold down the number you wish to save to and walla. That's the way it should be. The CD playback is as expected. The audio sounds great. MP3 playback is somewhat cumbersome but it's no different than any other stereo on the market when it comes to searching/finding/playing MP3's that are in folders. (how primitive, BTW) The AUX 1/8" input jack is the key feature here...You can input anything from a DVD player to an iPhone, iPod, Zune, whatever...It does the job and amplifies it. The remote was killer for me because in an RV, I can control the deck from the kitchen table and that is a great feature. A little velcro on the back of the remote and I've got instant convenience that I will never lose. The quality of the deck is higher than I expected for a sub $100 radio. The knob felt heavy and quite precise when turning. The other buttons are very small, however and ... forget reading what is printed on them. You really have to take the time to memorize them. It's minor but should be noted for those that may not be able to see smaller things. My only gripe was that the manual did not give instruction on how to set the clock! I read it 5x times and never saw the instruction for setting the time! I was stunned not to see this. What an oversight. For those that need to know: Turn the unit off by pressing and holding the main knob. Now press and hold the clock button and press and hold the main knob. The 12: will start to flash. Now press the up/down buttons then when you are done, press the left/right buttons and when you are done, just press the main knob and its set. How crazy that they didn't tell you that (I spent over an hour pressing buttons like a monkey until I figured out the right combination) Even with that oversight in the manual, I still give it 5 stars. It was easy to connect and very straightforward. I'm certain it will give me years of quality playing while in the RV. 13 of 13 people found the following review helpful. Very Simple, Yet very satisfactory By Rogelio Reyes I bought this radio as an upgrade for my honda civic lx 2001 and it was just perfect. The moment i installed it i noticed the difference in sound quality and it was only the stereo powering the speakers. When i used a power amplifier it sounded even better. I have to admit this is NOT the most powerful stereo for a BIG audio system, but if you are like me that only want a quality music and very good sound inside your car, this should work perfect. Pros: cheap, nice quality sound, RCA output for amplifier, aux and mp3-wav-wma etc support. Cons: simple display (if the song name is long, it wont display it and it does not scroll on the screen), only one pair of RCA. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Very good and simple car stereo. By Alejandro Mora I wanted a replacement for my very old car stereo because it didn't have anyway of hooking up my iPod. The previous stereo was a very old Sony Explode, it worked great for many years but it was time to move on to better things. And here I was back at Amazon for another Sony Explode. A great and simple removable faceplate with an AUX input (regular mini-jack) to connect my iPod. I also feel it gets much better radio reception/tunning and all in all it sounds great and loud enough for most people. I personally don't like to feel my entire car vibrate when listening to music, nor do I care to share my music with my entire neighborhood as I drive by. So, check it out. It doesn't have all the amazing features you can find, but for the price it's great. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Great, might upgrade By Harald Anderson I got this for my old Ford pickup, and (apart from removing the old radio) installation was easy. I didn't have a harness converter, but the directions identified the wires well enough for me to make my own. One thing I would suggest that is not in the instructions is to reassemble the dashboard before inserting the support frame, as the black outside ring didn't fit the slot, but would have sat nicely on the face of the dashboard (I just left it off). This is a great unit that sounds great. My only complaint is that while it reads CD text, it doesn't capture MP3 text from the radio (so you can see what song is playing). I might someday look for a model that does that. See all 6 customer reviews...

Gerenser This is the third in-dash receiver I've installed in my car in the past 2 years, and I have to say, this is by far the best head unit yet. I didn't install an amp and I'm using the stock speakers, so I can't comment much on audio quality. It's as good as can be expected from the marginal factory speakers. Instead, this review will focus on features. The P7000BT has a very nice, clean design. Some car receivers are just overloaded with dozens of tiny buttons and goofy graphics. Not so with this unit: it is clean and neat, but not too spartan. The cool blue and white faceplace looks modern, and is bright and easy to read in both sunlight and at night. The large rotary knob on the left side controls volume, station selection and tons of other functions. Its not as elegant as the click wheel on an iPod, but lets face it, no other company can come close to the ease of use of an Apple product. It will take a little getting used to, but after using this Pioneer receiver for a few days, I got the hang of the interface, and I like it. Note that there are no station preset numbers on the faceplate itself; instead, you use the rotary knob to select from one of 6 favorite stations, or you can use the included remote to directly select a preset. At first, I thought this was kind of lame, but after using it for a while, I don't mind it at all. The built-in Bluetooth is a godsend. Within minutes of first installing the P7000BT, I was able to pair it with my iPhone. It just works. Not much else to say about this. I also installed a USB to Dock cable, allowing an iPod or iPhone to connect directly to the head unit via USB. Nothing special is required: a standard dock cable is all you need (Apple brand or third party, doesn't matter). Not only does the receiver play the iPod's audio through the car speakers, but it also charges the iPod without the use of an extra clunky cigarette lighter charger. You can even choose to have the head unit control the iPod, in which song titles, artist info, track number and duration show up on the head unit. Or, if you prefer, you can choose to do all your searching on the iPod or iPhone itself. I like how the receiver gives you both options. I prefer to control all my music on the iPod or iPhone, because Apple's interface for browsing music is simply unmatched. In this review you've seen me mention the iPhone several times. Just to confirm, yes, the P7000BT does work flawlessly with the iPhone, despite the fact that Pioneer never lists it as officially supported. No complaints here. It just works. Overall, a very nice receiver. Highly recommended! 17 of 19 people found the following review helpful. Perfect ??? (Should be 4 stars, but I can't change the rating) By A. Jay Hunter Bought this deck and the HD unit from Amazon (etronics). Received the components in 2 days, and I received both units for $280 ($220 deck+90 HD Radio - $30 Amazon credit) which is less than the head unit alone from a lot of places. I bought this unit because I don't like ipods, small buttons, flashy displays, or low voltage outputs. This unit allows me to use USB, has simple controls, simple one line display, and four volt outputs. Having just used a jvc hd radio unit, I found I like being able to pull up traffic/weather reports every minute on our news HD3 radio station so I had to get the HD Radio add on. Bluetooth: The mic was easy to run, and I glued it to my steering colum so that it is less conspicuous in this location. Getting the phone to connect to the head unit was easy, ONCE I understood how to work the big knob system. The sound comes out of the microphone instead of through the speakers, and that's ok, the clarity is pretty good. One knock is that users complain of static when they speak, my voice is coming through crystal clear. I tried the various echo settings, but the listeners still complained

Hahn I got this head unit because I got an iphone 3GS (previous iphone models do not have Bluetooth audio streaming (A2DP)) and wanted something that would give me as many options of integrating it with the car stereo as possible without spending a ton of money. I also didn't want to have to pay extra for the bluetooth attachments that you have to add on to the bluetooth ready head units. -BLUETOOTH AUDIO STREAMING The audio bluetooth streaming is great sound quality is very good (I am not a picky audiophile so can't say if sensitive ears would notice anything wrong with the quality), I actually listen to local radio stations through their internet streams through the iphone then bluetoothed to the car stereo because its better sound quality then what I get out of the tuner (any tuner not just this one, I live in a bad radio reception area between 2 markets). The stereo usually picks up my phone (for both phone and audio) within 30 seconds of turning on the car. I have had to reset the bluetooth (takes about 20 seconds, push one button twice) every few weeks because it will start to get skippy but it is a pretty minor inconvenience. Listening to Pandora through the Iphone to the car stereo is awesome, and has greatly improved my commute. -Bluetooth Phone connection Connects within 30 seconds of starting the car. Sound quality is good. And the microphone that is built in actually works well, this shocked me I was sure I would have to either yell or buy an external mic but the one that comes in the head unit picks up my voice fine I have not had a complaint about people on the other end of the call not being able to hear me. Another good thing about the mic being built in is that it saved me $60 on the installation that they would have charged me to install an external mic. The transition between phone call and what was playing before the call is automatic and fluid. -USB input I have not gotten a chance to use this because the bluetooth has worked well. It would be nice if it had a USB on the back of the unit in addition to the one on the front so that you could run a wire hidden behind the console plastic and have it connect where ever you wanted it to without it cluttering up the car (that is the main reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars). Overall I love this unit because it was fairly cheap and it does exactly what I wanted it to do in respect to integrating with my Iphone. 16 of 16 people found the following review helpful. Had mine for a month now - glad I bought it! By GM I saw this on a shelf in a local Fry's. I had already tried and returned the MEX-BT2700U last year. I had a few minutes to spare so I tried it. Looked and sounded good. When I confirmed that you can use the Bluetooth Phone with the Internal mike, or get an External mike, I bought it on the spot. For $200, I might add. The Bluetooth works well, even with the Internal mike, which is behind the faceplate. I'm still amazed that it works as well as it does. May spend the $30 and get the XA-MC10 External mike when Sony has them in stock. The music sounds great, too. Much better than my 2-year-old CDX-GT630UI. But the best part? Sony added a circuit called DM+. It's for digital music only thru USB, like iPod or my Sansa Clip. It adds quite a bit of punch and re-EQ's things. Sounds way better than thru the AUX port. And you can navigate the music selection on the Sony's faceplate. On iPod, you can let the iPod guide things, but I use the Sony to navigate. For $150, it's a great buy. If I get a new car, I'm buying another one of these quick. 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Outstanding Device By James Shannon Bussey This stereo is outstanding, period. Burns I bought this product from a cheaper source, but use these reviews to determine which head unit to buy. The MEX-BT5700U had all the features I was looking for at a decent price. I have a '92 Toyota Pickup with a manual transmission, so Bluetooth calling was my top priority (safety) as my state hasn't implemented handsfree calling laws yet. My calls at highway speed (windows up) were clear and my caller only noticed a slight hum/noise and reported I sounded very clear. This was using the external mic provided on default settings for the gain and noise cancelling. Note: if an external mic is provided with ANY head unit(this one comes with an external mic)USE IT, DO NOT bother with a head unit that you cannot add or use an external mic....proper mic placement is key. I placed my mic on the steering column in front of my gauges. Pairing was simple, and iPod control is built in so you DO NOT need the separate iPod controller Sony sells for the other units. I also purchased the HD-Radio unit, but haven't installed it yet. The controls, and layout are decent, but some functions take multiple pushes of a single button to reach, or spin the dial....this can be a bit tough while driving. I figure after some use I will figure out what buttons do what and how many times to push to get to a function. In my opinion, no head unit is completely intuitive but I believe this unit provides a reasonable logic to it, but could most certainly be improved like every other head unit on the market. I recommend this unit to anyone looking for hands free calling, and iPod control. For the iPod control, all you need is your iPod USB cable, plug it in and the unit recognizes it and takes control. The unit can control the iPod, but nothing beats holding the iPod in your hand and selecting music the way you are used too. Looking at the screen you will still see the Artist Name and Song Title displayed even when in 'passenger mode'. Again, I haven't read a single review of any unit that has 'excellent' iPod controls. Four stars because, no head unit is perfect, and Sony could probably spend more effort in making the controls more intuitive. 18 of 18 people found the following review helpful. Very Pleased By Walter D. Fenyk Purchased this unit for a 98 pathfinder - really just wanted to add Bluetooth and iPod. Have only been playing with it for a short time but thought i would offer some feedback for others looking at the unit. Overall i am very satisfied with the unit and for the price i paid there is no reason to complain. (using the exisitng Bose amp and speakers that were factory installed) Flaws: 1. iPod control from the head unit is basically useless if you have alot of music. Solution just control the music from the ipod. use the head unit to advance songs but again almost impossible to find the song you want when you have several thousand songs. having playlists created makes it a bit easier. Sony could have done a much better job with the ipod interface. 2. Display - truely is tough to see in daylight. turning off the background graphics helped some but just very hard to see. Others have reported this. 3. Phone book - had no trouble loading my phone book off my Blackberry Storm. However, i have a very large list of contacts and they did not fit into the units memory. I need to do a bit of research here to find out the deal. Solution - just browse the phonebook vs loading it. And only loading the numbers of contacts that i care to have in the unit. Likes: 1. Bluetooth phone is very good - mic sensitivity can be adjusted and very clear for hands free. 2. Bluetooth streaming music - really impressed here- dont always have my ipod with me - but always have my blackberry where i have a few thousand songs stored. if your phone supports stereo Bluetooth you can stream music directly to the unit. 10 of 10 people found the following review

It worked out so well that I have purchased another to go in my 1988 Harley Davidson Electraglide Classic to replace the stock unit which was really showing its age. I purchased a adaptor kit from an online source which allows me to plug the Sony into my handlebar controls as if it was the much more expensive Harley replacement radio. Very happy with this receiver, especially with the IPod interface, it works very well. May buy another to put in the boat. Highly recommend. 2 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Simple functionality, but great sounds for cheap price By S. C. I was looking for a stereo with great sound and ipod connection for a very affordable price. I think this was a great choice. The sound of the stereo is rich, and even though I am not comparing it with other high-end stereos, I can tell you that you won't be disappointed with the audio quality of this unit. Very clear highs and great bass. Features-wise it's a very simple system. The EQ works great and has a custom set-up and very nice choice of factory presets. The ipod plug-in charges the ipod and plays the tunes at the same time. CD player and radio are also good. Now to the negatives that you should know about ... The radio sensitivity is definitely lower than of other stereos I owned. In the large city where I live, I get more interference than I used to with my stock car radio. Though, it's not that bad, so it's still listenable, and interference happens just once in a while. Now my biggest complaint: the ipod controls are very uncomfortable in my opinion. As I plug in my ipod to the ipod connector, the ipod becomes uncontrollable, and the XPLOD logo is displayed on the ipod screen. The stereo starts playing whatever album or playlist you selected before you plugged in the ipod into the stereo. If you want to change the playlist, you can disconnect the ipod and choose another playlist (hard to do when driving). Unfortunately when the playlist is done playing the ipod goes to the first album alphabetically and starts playing it automatically. There's no way to make it repeat the album I chose over and over. So that is why I have to disconnect my ipod and choose my playlist again. It is annoying, but I can handle it, since I drive an automatic and have one hand free. The other way to control the ipod is through the radio, but the setup is poor. You have to choose the album list or the artist list mode. Then you'd have to scroll through each album or artist one at a time, by pressing the buttons. You can speed scroll, but if you pause on a title it starts playing on it's own, and you have to wait a few seconds before you can continue your search. If you have a large amount of music on your ipod, then scrolling through the list with up and down buttons becomes a huge annoyance. That is why I never use these controls. I just unplug my ipod and choose something else using ipod's controls. The other minor details worth mentioning are the screen brightness and the security beep. The screen is very bright blue, and while driving at night that hurts my eyes. But there is a setting I can use to dim it. Though I'd prefer it becomes dim when I turn the headlights, and become bright when I turn them down. Some stereos have a control pin for that. This one doesn't, so I keep it dim all the time, which is ok, and visible during the day. The security beep is what happens when I stop my car engine and take out my car key from the ignition. The radio beeps three times to remind me to take out the faceplate. There is no way to turn off the beeps, I believe, but it's not that loud, and I just ignore it. I never take out the face plate. The sound is more like musical chirps, rather than beeps anyway. Bottom line, if you don't mind the inconvenient ipod controls on the
