What a difference from my previous stereo. 2. USB works great. I've tested with an 8GB drive but it probably can handle much higher capacities. 3. Sleekness looks really good without becoming a gaudy light show. 4. Plays songs reliably from USB (other stereos randomly cut songs way short) 5. Surprise feature: Supports limited RDS. While not a feature called out, you can view text from a radio station for song title and station information. However, there are no advanced RDS features enabled (ex: can't scan for radio stations by genre). Cons (all minor): 1. Doesn't ship with a faceplate case (come on Pioneer, please spring for the 60 cents of plastic). 2. No microphone mute option during a Bluetooth phone call. 3. Microphone sound quality is good but not great. If you are extra finicky you can use a different mic. I'm sticking with the factory mic. 4. Display does not alternate through Artist, Album, Song Title, etc. You have to explicitely change these yourself. 5. The manual is written so-so. There are a few things that are not explains well (ex: what is "private mode") and sometimes it says you can "press the M.C." and that "pushing the M.C." also does the same thing. Overall, the manual is mostly ok. 6. When you are in Repeat:Track mode and want to jump to another track you want to repeat on, the unit changes to Repeat:Folder instead of staying in Repeat:Track mode. Seems odd to me. 7. Does not ship with a remote control (optional upgrade), but I've never used the remotes from my past stereos anyways. 12 of 13 people found the following review helpful. Good product some minor preference issues By Anthony Gadd Sound is awesome, Ipod control works great as well as the bluetooth. It synced to my iPhone perfectly. The only issue I really had with is that the main knob is too shallow so when you want to turn up or down the volume its like your pinching it and not grabbing it. By Turbo Really like my Pioneer stereo yet there are a few issues that I really don't like. * Red? Looks nice in the dark but for me difficult to see during the day. The phone icon that tells you that your phone is connected via bluetooth is really bad, unless it is dark. * Adjusting volume control is tricky... the center control knob is low profile so it does not feel effortless to adjust volume or settings. * Not sure if it has something to do with the iOS 4 update but now my phone is hit and miss if it will charge by the radio. No issues on the audio coming across the usb cable. Don't see where you can use bluetooth to stream audio, yet works fine with the phone. * Wish they would have provided an USB port in the back... would love to run the cable from the back of the unit for iPod controls and use the front for usb keys or something like that. * I like to listen to talk radio on the AM dial yet I have to switch through 3 banks of FM to get to AM. Why can't I disable the extra banks of FM that I'm not ever going to use? * Sounds great yet it has tons or setting which take a while to tweak... hate the graphic equalizer... nothing but numbers... I'm a visual person... like to see all of the bands at once for that visual picture. All you will get is the band frequency and +/- numbers. Overall I'm happy with the product but don't think I would choose this model due to my list above... Don't get me wrong, it still a good unit... just needs a few changes for me. By Rowe Rowe I paid less than eighty dollars for this brand new unit at a local store and am very impressed with what I got. I bought it to replace my radio in my RV. It has everything I need which basically is just the simple audio-input jack. Between that and the cigarette charger for power, I connect my iPhone with Pandora and I'm all set for a road trip. The radio is pretty decent as far as the quality goes. It sounds great! An improvement over OEM stereos for sure! The buttons are small but you get used to them. I think they could have been slightly larger but this was a design decision. I disagree with the previous person stating that the knob it too shallow. That person must have abnormally large fingers because I thought the knob is quite nice. The radio is decent. It got all of my stations with no hassle. Memorizing stations is dead simple: Hold down the number you wish to save to and walla. That's the way it should be. The CD playback is as expected. The audio sounds great. MP3 playback is somewhat cumbersome but it's no different than any other stereo on the market when it comes to searching/finding/playing MP3's that are in folders. (how primitive, BTW) The AUX 1/8" input jack is the key feature here...You can input anything from a DVD player to an iPhone, iPod, Zune, whatever...It does the job and amplifies it. The remote was killer for me because in an RV, I can control the deck from the kitchen table and that is a great feature. A little velcro on the back of the remote and I've got instant convenience that I will never lose. The quality of the deck is higher than I expected for a sub $100 radio. The knob felt heavy and quite precise when turning. The other buttons are very small, however and ... forget reading what is printed on them. You really have to take the time to memorize them. It's minor but should be noted for those that may not be able to see smaller things. My only gripe was that the manual did not give instruction on how to set the clock! I read it 5x times and never saw the instruction for setting the time! I was stunned not to see this. What an oversight. For those that need to know: Turn the unit off by pressing and holding the main knob. Now press and hold the clock button and press and hold the main knob. The 12: will start to flash. Now press the up/down buttons then when you are done, press the left/right buttons and when you are done, just press the main knob and its set. How crazy that they didn't tell you that (I spent over an hour pressing buttons like a monkey until I figured out the right combination) Even with that oversight in the manual, I still give it 5 stars. Very Simple, Yet very satisfactory By Rogelio Reyes I bought this radio as an upgrade for my honda civic lx 2001 and it was just perfect. The moment i installed it i noticed the difference in sound quality and it was only the stereo powering the speakers. When i used a power amplifier it sounded even better. I have to admit this is NOT the most powerful stereo for a BIG audio system, but if you are like me that only want a quality music and very good sound inside your car, this should work perfect. Pros: cheap, nice quality sound, RCA output for amplifier, aux and mp3-wav-wma etc support.
